Awareness is impersonal, undefined, infinite, not subject to linear time and as such cannot be anything other than choiceless. There are simply no criteria on which to base any choices.
If you are identified with a person which is subject to space and linear time, then the choice making has already begun. The choice to personally identify with a particular part of existence has happened. The choice to believe that part of existence is in some way separate from and subject to the circumstances pervading the rest has happened. The choice to believe the thought concepts linear time and three dimensional space have happened.
If future outcomes are being considered, more choices have already been made, usually based on the chosen personal identity. This outcome would be preferred over that outcome etc.
Who is afraid? To whom does choice belong? Who is waiting? Who is understanding? What is there to understand? From where comes the notion difference?
Another term sometimes used for awareness is The Witness. The Witness just watches Life unfold however it happens to unfold. No predictions. No preferences. No control. No choices.
This may sound like a cold and indifferent position if considered from a personal point of view which is always judging and preferring and choosing. Another way of describing it is totally unconditional Love. It is not a personal experience. It is a universal experience. You are already all that is. All that is is already you.
The concept 'choice' has no meaning from this (non-)position.
I hope this has been of some help to you, but to fully grasp what I am trying to explain, one has to completely abandon trying to understand using thought. It really is not explainable.
