[The following verbal symphony has been kindly shared with us by Happy Cow's good friend Simon Drew. When he is not busy stirring up trouble, Simon can be found blending turmoil, puréeing strife, cocktail shaking spots of bother and running the online groups English Stuff and H.A.T.S.T.A.N.D.(O.N.). When you have finished arranging Simon's verbal bouquet in your mind vase, why not show your appreciation by clicking on the 'Like' button at the bottom below. Alternatively, you can get your grandmother to knit a scarf with the words 'The Drewstar is the bee's knees' on it and wander around Brisbane and the surrounding area holding it above your head and hoping that he sees you. Enjoy!]
It's really just music
this locating of locations
with hand placed warm on the belly of the furnace
and the rain eating with the cabbages
and the worm crawling
the dirty marks on the table are symphonies
and a rock in the dirt,
mind boggling improvisation
have you seen the clarinets, hung among the stars?
each light flash that strikes between the leaves
staccato, and that hum of busy quiet
the flash of faces, echoes imperfect refracted
lights on the edge of the mirror
autumn sunshine
the vast compositions of the landscape in a slice of bread
the echoes in bubbles, and the morning call of highways waking
the striking of a string into vibration
children run across a bitumen playground
backpack colours calling up to the clouds
the running total of wallet inventory
the sad last locking of fingers,
and clear white sheets, sleeping in the dark
waiting to be written on.
