night is waiting
over the tree tops, street lights and telegraph poles
moon shining
beckoning feet out into the streets
between the flying insects
a path could be made
leading no where
leading back home
it's quiet here above the midnight traffic
silence's voice overwhelms it all
I heard a pond was rising over the world
all taken into water's embrace
it was a lie
the water rose long ago
I'll whisper as long as I'm given
time among the buzzing
words of half eaten insects
who forgot to remember about forgetting
words, words, words
nothing really to worry about
I heard a man was waiting at the bus stop
he's been there for several millenia
he carries a brass drum and a hand full of brittle flowers
they crash to the footpath as the bus arrives
ants carry the fragments away
listen long into the night
not waiting for a bird to call
somewhere in that hum
raindrops are falling back out of the throat
and rising to the silver dust heavens
in the celestial clouds
stars are born and die
no matter
Einstein bought a wristwatch
and ten silent sentinels having been guarding the tomb of belief
just look there
deep into the clouds
you'll never come back
just look out there
diligently effortless
you'll find yourself flying next to the moon
I've heard that all the gold
is waiting in the shoe boxes of children
next to collected centipedes
and lies they never listened to
I've heard
if you walk into the night too long
you'll never come back
someone waiting is never patient
to be a bird above those clouds
looking down on the laid out jewels
we cast before heaven
night is waiting
has no eye to open or close
has no ears yet catches every sound in those
tree tops right there
do you think she kids with you?
no, she's laughing, deep in your belly
