[The following word wonder was kindly shared with us by Happy Cow's good friend Simon Drew. When he is not busy arranging imaginary talking horses by height and colour, Simon can be found swearing under his breath, wondering about the future of cheese, going three miles after the extra mile and running the online groups English Stuff and International Monthly Hatstand Day. Do you remember that place?
Before we gave names to love
like
sparrow, fence, horizon
and greed
We met there
and now we meet again
Don't worry
these words are thinner than paper
lay them on a pond
and in a few moments they would be gone
Just like this part of love we call skin and bone
There is no need to strain your ears to listen to whispers
They all come out of the silence
these words like you and I and we
Don't worry
they never left the silence
and in fact nothing has been said
In that place where love received the blessings
and curses of the tongue
this place
all else is dreams
"Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about. Ideas, language, even the phrase each other doesn't make any sense." Rumi
