[The following walk on the wild side has been kindly shared with us by Happy Cow's good friend Simon Drew. When he is not busy calling all the heroes, Simon can be found e-mailing all the villains, texting all the side-kicks, sending a telegram to the narrator and running the online groups English Stuff and H.A.T.S.T.A.N.D.(O.N.). If you are sent a wandering by Simon's poem, why not show your appreciation by clicking on the 'Like' button at the bottom below. Enjoy!]
Strolling into unknowing after unknowing
call it what you will
in the knowing it was unknown
holding the brown mug
scratching a stain from the surface
turning it over again and again
your real face is always at the surface
the mask is your face also
and what you see through those holes
carved
too
