There once was a songbird who vowed not to sing.
It really was quite a peculiar thing,
Each morning the other birds sang out with pride,
But Not Singing Bird kept her song locked up inside.
Tighter and tighter she squeezed the song-(k)not
Until deep down inside her it started to rot
And release noxious poison that entered her veins,
Causing her all kinds of illness and pains.
The other birds all seemed to have it so easy.
Some of them never felt so much as queasy,
While her lot in life was to suffer and bear
This unbearable burden of inner despair.
But not once did Not Singing Bird make the connection
Between the song-(k)not and the blood-borne infection,
And so on she went with incessant non-tweeting,
Which as we have seen was somewhat self-defeating.
