[The following mind maelstrom was kindly shared with us by Happy Cow's good friend Simon Drew. When he is not busy dancing in the moonlight, Simon can be found threatening artichokes, eyebrow shuffling, grabbing bulls by the horns and running the online groups English Stuff and International Monthly Hatstand Day. something always one step away
the locks of hair that hide the eye
it looks to an unknown place
forgiveness comes in a wave
split heads upon themselves
all the wreckage lying there
messy foundations never built on
someone's anguish in a touch
this means a lot this means too much
take the leaves that were dropped
I look at them but they would not rot
something silver paved the waves
the wash against the skies climax
determined but yet it still behaves
in a way surprising to the mind
if you held it there one day
would you show me inside your hand?
would the anguish on our lips
meet the ocean down below?
raging yet, it will not go
severed from the olden start
it seems nothing is a-part
of something we dreamed came before
a hope that gives a future
now the wastelands lies in darkness
I call on you but you won't forget
the city where it was we met
the forest may be our home
but concrete is the land we roam
to the world but a guest
we each day dare to request
a golden arrow in our side
each time we see the sun arise
the leaves are rotting at my feet
the mountains high, the sky's deceit
hidden portion lives on still
and then stars push away
no will to give to every day
the shining light has left you now
and the sun is cast in doubt
was it 'it' you really saw?
you take a wander in the dark
leave your soul on the coatstand
and dress yourself with the world
trust the earth your feet to hold
leave your offering to the moon
the night will be over soon.
