[The following galactic tapestry has been kindly shared with us by Happy Cow's good friend Simon Drew. When he is not busy overcoming obstacles, Simon can be found undergoing surgery, to the left arriving hurdles, to the right leaving treatment and running the online groups English Stuff and H.A.T.S.T.A.N.D.(O.N.). He is the inspiration behind the Magical Sometimes Machine, and you can also find his ramarkable visionography in the Happy Cow Gallery. If you found yourself at one with the speck, why not show your appreciation by clicking on the 'Like' button at the bottom below. Alternatively, you could set up a world-record breaking number of toppling dominoes whose colours and pattern are arranged in such a way that when toppled they spell out the words 'SIMON D IS WELL BRILL' when viewed from an overhead camera. The record breaking topple will probably be picked up by one of those Japanese Bonkers World Records shows, which Simon will accidentally happen across one night while flicking through the channels because there is nothing better on. The choice is yours. Enjoy!]
A speck of dust among the stars
between red dwarfs and quasars
you'd hardly see it in the sky
invisible to naked eye
And yet this dust has drifted down
alighted upon a golden crown
all mixed up in the play
keeps on drifting night and day
The last piece of real in a dream
whether in hill or dairy cream
unseen and unnoticed goes on and on
past Jupiter and beyond
It creates the wind which blows
to all the places that it goes
and by its presence changes all
the difference between answer and missed call
Without a name or fixed address
yet all four corners of this dream caress
silent as a gem at night
casts no shadow, sheds no light
There when space and time were born
the first out breath, the cosmic dawn
and there when the dreaming ceased
all ties and binds suddenly released
Lies in eye, in trough, in crest
in tireless heart beating on in breast
of no importance, yet all worlds creates
muse to the triplet fates
Unseen and unnoticed goes on and on
past Jupiter and beyond
the last piece of real in a dream
the never ending cosmic seam.
